What is a breast uplift?

A breast uplift is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates breasts that may look droopy and flat to return them to a more youthful and uplifted looking breast. It is often performed for women whose breasts have become saggy due to pregnancy, breast feeding, weight loss or ageing. A breast uplift itself does not change the size of your breast. It can be performed with a breast augmentation with silicone implants to add extra volume for a larger breast.

Mastopexy surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic. It usually requires an overnight stay but small breast uplifts can occasionally be done as a day case. There are a number of types of breast uplift techniques. The most common involves your surgeon making a cut around the outline of your areola and possibly a vertical +/- horizontal cut underneath in the breast fold and then removing excess skin, reshaping your breast tissue and lifting your nipple.

How long does a breast uplift procedure last?

A breast uplift procedure to both breasts typically takes 2 to 3 hours to perform. You should expect your breast uplift to last for years but gravity and ageing will continue to impact on your breasts.

The result depends on a number of factors:

  • Patient factors - your age, genetics, skin tone and elasticity, the size and weight of your breasts and your lifestyle such as weight loss, pregnancy and diet.
  • Surgical factors - the technique used for your mastopexy and whether implants were used.

How long is the recovery procedure after a breast uplift?

You can expect the recovery period after a breast uplift to be a few weeks. You will be able to go home the following day after your breast uplift. Some patients having a small uplift may be able to have their surgery and go home the same day. A suitable support bra is advised day and night for 4 to 6 weeks.

You will be able to return to work after two weeks, depending on your job type. It is advised that you avoid swimming, strenuous exercise or heavy lifting anything heavy for at least four weeks. You can return to full normal exercise by six weeks.

The results of your mastopexy are usually visible within six to nine months when your breasts start to feel softer and the swelling fully goes down.

What is the cost of a breast uplift procedure?

The cost of your mastopexy will depend on your individual requirements of the surgery. Our guide package price for breast uplift is from £5200.

This guide price is an estimate of costs and you will receive a formal quotation price following your consultation with one of our cosmetic surgeons. This formal quote for a breast uplift will be valid for 60 days and includes unlimited aftercare.
